Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your applications doesnt work as intended, it crashes, freezes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the apps cache/data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal data stored in the app will be deleted, including save files and settings, login information, user profiles etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Launch Settings
- Access General if necessary
- Go to Apps
- Select the desired app and go to Storage
- Tap Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt solve the problems, tap Clear data > OK (check the warning above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can lead to results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data on the phone.
- Launch Settings
- Access Phone Management
- Tap Storage > Internal storage
- Wait for the phone to finish calculating the data then tap Cached data
- Tap Clear
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt fix the problems, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an Application:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes problems and prevents you from removing it, you can uninstall the app from Safe Mode, where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Press and hold Power on the home screen
- From the power management pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- At the Reboot in Safe Mode prompt tap OK. Once the phone finishes rebooting, a Safe Mode watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
- To uninstall an app, first open Settings
- Access Apps and if necessary, switch to All apps
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall > OK
- To exit Safe Mode, reboot your phone normally
