Clear an Apps Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps doesnt work as intended, freezes, crashes or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache/data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including login information, save files, personalized settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Access General
- Tap Apps
- Select the desired app and access Storage
- Tap Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK (check the WARNING above)
Clear the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Phone Management
- Tap Storage > Internal storage
- Wait for the phone to finish calculating the data and tap Cached data > Clear
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third-party app that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode, where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Press and hold Power on the home screen
- From the Power Management pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- At the Reboot in Safe Mode prompt, tap OK
- Wait for the phone to reboot. Once done, it should show a Safe Mode watermark in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, first open Settings
- Then access Apps and switch to All apps if necessary
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall > OK
- To exit Safe Mode, reboot your phone as you would do normally
