Clear an App’s Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps doesn’t work as intended, freezes, crashes or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache/data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including login information, save files, personalized settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “General”
  3. Tap “Apps’
  4. Select the desired app and access “Storage”
  5. Tap “Clear cache”
  6. If clearing the cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” > “OK” (check the WARNING above)

Clear the Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Phone Management”
  3. Tap “Storage” > “Internal storage”
  4. Wait for the phone to finish calculating the data and tap “Cached data” > “Clear”

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: If you have installed a third-party app that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode, where all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Press and hold “Power” on the home screen
  2. From the Power Management pop-up, tap and hold “Power off”
  3. At the “Reboot in Safe Mode” prompt, tap “OK”
  4. Wait for the phone to reboot. Once done, it should show a “Safe Mode” watermark in the lower area of the home screen
  5. To remove an app, first open “Settings”
  6. Then access “Apps” and switch to “All apps’ if necessary
  7. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” > “OK’
  8. To exit Safe Mode, reboot your phone as you would do normally
