Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: if one of your apps doesnt work as intended, crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably etc. you can try solving these issues by clearing the apps cache/data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted. This includes user profiles, save files, custom settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app cache.
- Open Settings
- Go to General and tap Apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Storage > Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK
Wipe the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your device crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try solving these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have similar results to a factory reset without losing personal data from the device.
- Open Settings
- Go to Phone Management
- Tap Storage > Internal storage
- After the phone finishes calculating the data, tap Cached data
- Tap Clear
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the device.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes problems and prevents you from removing it, you can uninstall the app in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Press and hold power
- In the Power Management menu, tap and hold Power off
- At the Reboot to Safe Mode prompt, tap OK
- After the phone reboots, a Safe Mode watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app first launch Settings then go to Apps
- If necessary, switch to All apps
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall > OK
- Once the process completes, reboot the phone normally to exit Safe Mode
