WARNING! By factory resetting your phone, your personal data located on the phones internal memory will be deleted. This includes media files and ringtones, contacts, downloaded content etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values but data located on the SD storage and SIM card wont be affected.
NOTE: Before you reset the phone, you can check this thread for a guide on backing up data, and this thread for a guide on restoring data.
Factory Reset via Settings:
- Open Settings
- Go to Phone Management
- Tap Backup & Reset
- Clear or tick the boxes associated with Back up my data and Automatic restore
- Tap Backup account
- Select the desired account and tap Factory data reset when ready
- Optionally, select whether to Erase SD card as well
- If your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter your password/PIN and tap Continue to proceed
- Tap Delete all > Reset
Factory Reset via Recovery:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise prevents you from resetting it using the method above, alternatively you can try resetting the phone using hardware keys.
- Turn the phone Off
- Press and hold Power and Volume down at the same time
- At the LG screen, release and quickly press Power
- Release the buttons when you see the Factory data reset screen
- Next, press Volume down to navigate the menu and highlight Yes
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- At the Erase all user data and restore defaults prompt highlight Yes using the volume keys
- Press Power to confirm
