Re: MetroPCS Thread!!!
Another Samsung is suppose to be launching soon, the A645. It's a basic clamshell with a color screen and speakerphone. Check it out here: Samsung SCH-A645 - Features, Specs, and User Reviews - Mobiledia
Update: The A645 is on shelves and priced at around $120-$140!

Re: MetroPCS Thread!!!
Does metro use firmware on their sim cards like tracfone? I have an unlocked razr and a cdma metro I can upgrade to a gsm for not much money. It would be worth it to me if the sim will work in the razr.
I love metro's service, by the way. I pay $59 monthly and have unlimited everything and have yet to lose a call
P.S. I just learned Metro PCS has no GSM phones (no sim cards). That sucks.
Anybody know how to hack a tracfone sim to work in a non-tracfone phone?Last edited by skinny puppy; 08-15-2006 at 05:24 AM.

Re: MetroPCS Thread!!!
My tracfone has a sim card so I guess it is GSM. I don't know how to tell otherwise.

Re: MetroPCS Thread!!!
The Tracfone sim works in the unlocked Razr, but only for emergency calls--in fact it displays "emergency calls only" after trying to acquire a network. i've been told that's due to the lack of airtank firmware Tracfone uses to countdown minutes. I was hoping there is a legal way to flash to my phone with the s/w or something like it and keep recharging minutes with tracfone prepaid cards.

Re: MetroPCS Thread!!!
Hi Chris,
I'm currently shopping for cell phones, as I currently don't have one and it's driving me nuts! I've decided on MetroPCS since my credit is shot, and they're so affordable. I'm having a hard time deciding on which phone to get though, because as a previous contract customer, I'm not used to paying so much for a phone.
I'm a long time fan of Samsung because of their appealing design and user-friendly interface, but I'm disappointed at Metro's choice of Samsung phones. I had almost decided on the A670 (even with it's lack of speakerphone), only to find out it's discontinued. The design of the new A645 is very appealing, but it lacks bluetooth (as a lot of Metro's phones do) and a camera.
Anyhow, now that I've finished my novel I'll get to my questions. Do you know if Metro plans to release any better equipped Samsungs anytime soon? Do you know the price range of the upcoming Strobe, and Nokia 6165 and 6265? And finally, I'd love to hear your thoughts in general, and maybe even a reccomendation for me if you have one?
Thanks in advance for your help! I appreciate it.
~Brent
P.S. Any thoughts on the lawsuit against Metro? Could Metro service be stopped because of it?

Re: MetroPCS Thread!!!
Hello, I have a metropcs LG VX3200. My service is trouble. This is my fifth phone. The first one a Nokia my husband lost it. The second one which was a replacement given by Metropcs just stop working one day. It just cut off and won't come back on. I called metro and they said there was nothing they could do. So a couple months later I finally buy my Third metro phone a Nokia 6015i. This phone, it stop wanting to charge. So I tried a different battery. Still won't work. So I moved on the my Fourth Metro phone. Which is the phone i have now. I kept is after which it fell into a cup of kool-aid. So i brought a new phone. My Fifth phone a Motorola the blue one. It and my fourth phone had bad drop calls. Even before it fell in kool-aid. My fifth phone eventually stop wanting to charge, like the other one. So I kept my fourth phone the LG, after awhile of giving it a rest it works. But for some reason or the other. I HAVE VERY VERY BAD DROP CALLS. I bearly use my phone at home in stone mountain, at work and many other places. MetroPcs service is getting very very bad. I am trying my best to go with a different company. ASAP
Thank You
Samihah
P.S.
Just had to vent.

Re: MetroPCS Thread!!!
Due to brand preference and price, I ended up going with the a645. I've gotten used to it.. I'm just highly disappointed in the interface. It seems basic and like something Samsung would've upgraded and made nicer by now.
All my GSM Samsung phones all had much nicer interfaces. My most recent Samsung for T-Mobile and the Sanyo I had for Sprint both had excellent battery life in terms of phone use, sometimes calling and sometimes texting. With my new Samsung, call time is ok, but if you're using the phone to play a game or change settings or send a text, even with the brightness turned halfway down it still uses a considerable amount of battery. I refuse to use power save mode because the phone is completely dim.
I am impressed with the speech recognition, I've started using it with no problem and without being trained, it works incredibly well. However, I can't figure out how to add words to the T9 dictionary. The speakerphone also doesn't get too loud at all. Most of the time not even worth using.
Overall not a horrible phone for something more base model. MetroPCS needs to run some specials or something on the newer, nicer phones!
What's with MetroPCS buying a major buyer in all that network frequency space? Does this mean a significant expansion in coverage could be in store?!?Last edited by brenteesha; 09-19-2006 at 01:58 PM.
