I am ready to upgrade my 2 year old Motorola cell phone, it’s a V60i (I think) and it has been really reliable and been though a lot. I want to get another Moto phone because I am used to the layout and like how they are setup. Is the Razr really worth the money? I know that half of what you are paying for is looks but is it still a quality phone? I have heard of some issues with it and was wondering if they were rare and few and far between or a common thing? I can’t have the phone breaking all the time, reliably is important. Also does it place calls clearly? Because my current phone is pretty bad, sometimes voices cut in and out and its not cingular’s fault because my friends don’t have the same problem. If I don’t get the RAZR I will probably get the Moto V220, which is a basic $100 phone with a camera and such. But I am willing to pay for the RAZR’s coolness as long as the phone is quality and not a cheaply made peace of crap that just looks expensive. Thanks.

BTW: How is the camera on it? I don’t need it to be great (I have a nice digi cam), but I have seen some phones where the camera takes pics so badly that it is pretty much useless and I would like to be able to use the thing, and for a $200 phone I would expect it to be decent.

The phone is good. I have 2 in the family and both are working fine and have not seen the problems that many people have mentioned. The battery life of one is less than the other, i guess it depends on the battery and how you charge/discharge it. I did not buy the phone to be used as a camera, and have used it to take pictures, so I cannot comment on that.

The phone looks great, I like the speakerphone. In the V300, which I used before this phone, I had to wait for the call to connect/picked up before I could switch to speaker phone. In this I can switch immediately after hitting the call button.
BT is also cool and use it all the time when in the car.

I am having better sound quality than the V300, calls are more clear for the same service provider t-mobile in the same area.

Overall I am satisfied with the phone.

Thanks for the input, I went to the Cingular today and they are getting a shipment of black razrs in tomorrow, they are $200, I told him that I would be back tomorrow. I still am not sure if I am going to get it though, because the Moto V551 is $150 with a $50 mail in rebate right now, from what I can see feature wise it is no different than the razr and actually it can capture video while the razr cannot. So pretty much comes down to do I want to pay $100 for an ultra stylish phone…

Where are you located? US? I am in NJ and my retailer can give the razor for much cheaper than getting it from cingular. Let me know if interested. I can get you in touch with my retailer. You can work directly with him and he can ship the phone to you if you are not in NJ or nearby.

Also my retailer can give razr to you unlocked. That is a huge plus. Dont spend 200 buying from cingular.

Hi, I am in the U.S. in Mass, so your retailer could just ship me a new razr for cheaper and then I could bring it into the cingular store and have them set it all up? Sounds good but I am always wary of cell phone deals, and I dont know how the warrenty would work out if I ever needed it.

smithdogg1, It can be worked out and phone mailed to you.

T-mobile: In case of defective piece, you will have to ship it to the dealer to fix or replace, i guess. You can speak to him and find out. Alternatively you can go to the nearest motorola service center.

T-mobile will not support it since the phone is not yet supported. But they did support me in getting t-zones setup on this phone.

Cingular: If you want cingular, then you can just go to any authorized cingular dealer and they should be able to help you out in fixing the phone or replacing.

the v3 can have the video feature. you won't find one, silver or black, that comes with it in the us. The only difference in the 2 phones is the color. If you want black, you need to track down one of the new ones with the black keypad instead of the silver one. Or you can get a silver for free and change the housing to black for about 40 bux! lol

the camera is only vga but it aint bad. It is a cell phone you know! lol

also, you don't need to take it to the store to set it up, you can do it yourself. Cingular just added device guides to OLAM for all of there phones. It will walk you through every part of the phone. You can also get the unlock code from them if you want to buy the phone from them. Some people have had some troubles with features not working on the non us models.

if you can wait till my v1150 comes in ill sell you my silver razr, with video and all, for cheap! It won't be soon though! lol

Actually the V3 from t-mobile does come with video recording capabilities. (I checked last night because I wasn't going to get it if it didn't) But the silver cingular one doesn't.

Ive looked on EBAY. PLENTY of black RAZRS to choose from. However, if I buy an unbranded, unlocked RAZR and put my TM sim card in, Ive been told that the data services do not work (picture messaaging, web browsing, etc). Is this true? If enough of you guys convince me, I'll buy one tomorrow on EBAY!!!
