I have a Motorola V575 - does anyone know what voice tags are used for? Can you set up a contact on your phone so that when you say their name, it will dial their number?

That's exactly what voice tags are supposed to do. However, apparently there are 2 kind of VT's.

#1 Those that use the name associated with the name in your contact list. So you speak the name and the phone dials the number. Sort of. It's almost impossible to speak so that the crappy computer generated VT understands who you want to call.

#2 The other type allows you to 'record' in your own voice your own VT so that when you speak the same recorded name the phone goes out and compares it with what it has stored in it's VT's and dials that number.

This is a sore subject we just encountered this weekend with my wife's phone. #1

My phone, a Windows Mobile device, allowed me to record my voice VT and it works great.

Bottom line, I hate the way her phone works. If you play back the VT it uses, you can't even understand what it says.
