I go through Cellular One. I have a Motorola KRZR K1.
I want to put some ringtones on my phone, and I have seen that some people are saying to use the BitPim application, but it doesnt work with my carrier or my cell phone.
    Any other ideas?
    I have a USB cord.

you have the usb cord, you also need a ringtone program with an install disc, I got mine at office max, unfortunatly my house burned down and i lost it in the fire and never got to use the program. . .i would suppose you could find some way to axcess something over the net as long as you, know how to enter the bootloader screen on your phone, it should all become fairly simple and self explanitory from then on.

Re: How can I put ringtones on my phone without internet access on my phone?

dude. why would one want to put their phone into bootloader mode to put ringers on it? that is just asking for trouble. from what ive heard reports of, 9 times out of 10 you cant get out of bootloader mode once you put it there unless you flash the phone..

at any rate, the guide i posted works just fine and all those apps are free to obtain and use.

Re: How can I put ringtones on my phone without internet access on my phone?

    OK, Spikejones or anyone else.....
So, I tried that site, and I followed all the directions and then got to the bottom, and it said, that someone had reported that the version of P2K Commander doesnt work on the K1. Only the K1m.
But it also says that someone reported success with getting songs onto their K1 phone with P2K Commander version 3.0.3.435.
So, I searched that and I cant find any downloads of it.
    Can someone please help me?
    Thanks!

Re: How can I put ringtones on my phone without internet access on my phone?

did you try that version anyways? and what version is it anyhow? to be honest, I only followed the guide from there and didnt download from there. So a few specifics could help.

also, have you tried the version from softpedia?

the software is freeware, so you may be able to find and acquire it legally at a torrent site or through other P2P applications.

unfortunately, the programmers of the applications don't do a very good job of keeping links up at their sites for the older versions of their applications since they assume that the newer version is always better than the last. if you have difficulties in locating the newest version, you can visit s5vi's p2k development forum and request that he send you the version that you need, and perhaps request that he get it hosted on softpedia until he can fix the current versions to work well with the k1.

    s5vi's Motorola p2k phone page - Index

i'll go ahead and warn you though that the forums are riddled with adds that replace the forums all the time. whenever that happens, I have to hit the refresh button (F5) and it will replace the forums.

Re: How can I put ringtones on my phone without internet access on my phone?

It looks like the version I used first, that I got from that page was 3.2.2.
I did keep trying it, but it doesnt have the same file names or anything that they talk about on that page.
All that was in common was when you first go to the drop down menu and you go to mobile phone, then to <a>.
    Thats all.

Re: How can I put ringtones on my phone without internet access on my phone?

    checklist:

    1. you have drivers installed
    2. MSU is RUNNING in the background (and shows your ESN or MEID number in the window)
    3. you choose <a> from the drop down menu on p2k commander

    what happens then?

    edit.
just found a d/l of p2k TOOLS version 3.0.3.435 perhaps you will want to try THAT out instead.

Re: How can I put ringtones on my phone without internet access on my phone?

Ok the MSU is running, but it doesnt show anything.
I mean it works, cuz then it changes the thing on my phone, and when I close it, my phone turns to a status where it says USB Communication, instead of "Charging", which it says when MSU is open.
But it doesnt show anything on the MSU screen.
When I choose <a> from the drop down menu on p2k commander, it has a list, of all these different ones to choose from.
But the only one with a file folder next to it is "mobile".
I have gone through all the folders and cant find the one that on the Aznuwee guide it says you have to delete.
And that P2K 3.0.3.435 download doesnt work, it comes up as an .RAR type, and it tries to open with Internet Explorer instead of just opening as a regular application.
I dont know what I am doing wrong.

Ok, so I downloaded WinRAR to open that file.
And it worked, but I cant figure out how to get files uploaded to it.

Re: How can I put ringtones on my phone without internet access on my phone?

i honestly know nothing about p2k tools to tell you the truth. i used p2k commander myself.

in response to your question about the mytonedb.db file, that one is located at the root of the filesystem ie. a/mytonedb.db

and there should be a folder called motorola. inside that folder should be "shared" and inside of that folder should be the one that has your ringtones in it.

but if p2k commander does not show the motorola folder, you may have to use p2k tools instead. check the help documents to see how to upload things using that application.

Re: How can I put ringtones on my phone without internet access on my phone?

Actually, the last time I checked, Cellular One is a GSM carrier, so, that being the case, the tools mentioned in this thread all apply to CDMA phones, which will NOT work on GSM phones. At least for the razr V3m (CDMA) as opposed to the V3 (GSM) the 'hacking' process is totally different and the software used for such is also mostly different.

Correct me if I'm wrong, anybody? It wouldn't be the first time, nor the last.
