Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
  4. Tap “Display” and enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  5. Tap “Sleep” for timeout options and select a lower value

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when unused, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. For GPS options, go to “Location” > “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. To turn off Hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and turn the feature Off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G”

Minimize Third Party Applications:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when they are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “Apps” under “Device”
  3. Ensure “All apps” is selected from the drop-down menu and select the desired app
  4. To disable the app, tap “Force stop”
  5. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

Reduce Sync:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
  3. Select the desired account
  4. Change the account’s available sync settings to reduce sync

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for OS updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone” > “System updates”
  3. Verify if a new update is available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to apply the update(s). NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
