Back Up App Data:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset”
  4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and passwords to your Google account
  5. Enable “Automatic restore” to allow app data to be restored automatically when reinstalling apps or signing in with the backup account

Back Up & Restore Contacts:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “Accounts”
  3. Select the account type and account you want to use for syncing your contacts
  4. Enable “Contacts” if necessary and tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method can be restored automatically when you sign in with your Google backup account.

Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the Motorola device to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the desired media files on the phone storage
  5. Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
  6. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Moto G5S to your PC via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media file backups on the computer storage
  5. Copy and paste the files back on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder
  6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
