Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: In case one of your apps crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache/data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted. This includes user profiles, save files, credit card and login information, settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps and make sure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
- Select the desired app and access Storage
- Tap Clear cache
- If clearing the app cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can lead to results similar to a factory reset without losing any personal data stored on the phone.
- Ensure the phone is powered down
- Press and hold Power and Volume down at the same time
- After you gain access to the Boot Mode Selection Menu release both buttons
- In the menu, press volume down to navigate to and highlight Recovery
- Press Volume Up to confirm
- At the No Command screen, press and release Power and Volume Up several times until you gain access to Android Recovery
- Once in Recovery mode, press Volume down to navigate to and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Once the cache partition is cleared, highlight Reboot system now and press Power
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt solve the issues, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset your phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: In case you have installed a third-party app that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled by default.
- Press and hold Power
- From the power management pop-up, press and hold Power Off
- At the Reboot to Safe Mode prompt, tap OK to confirm
- After the phone reboots, open Settings and go to Apps
- Ensure All Apps is selected in the drop-down menu and select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall > OK to confirm
- To Exit Safe Mode, press and hold Power and reboot your phone as you would do normally
