Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: In case one of your apps crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache/data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted. This includes user profiles, save files, credit card and login information, settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps” and make sure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
  3. Select the desired app and access “Storage”
  4. Tap “Clear cache”
  5. If clearing the app cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” > “OK”

Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can lead to results similar to a factory reset without losing any personal data stored on the phone.

  1. Ensure the phone is powered down
  2. Press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” at the same time
  3. After you gain access to the “Boot Mode Selection Menu” release both buttons
  4. In the menu, press “volume down” to navigate to and highlight “Recovery”
  5. Press “Volume Up” to confirm
  6. At the “No Command” screen, press and release “Power” and “Volume Up” several times until you gain access to Android Recovery
  7. Once in Recovery mode, press “Volume down” to navigate to and highlight “Wipe cache partition”
  8. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  9. Once the cache partition is cleared, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power”

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t solve the issues, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset your phone instead.

  2. From the power management pop-up, press and hold “Power Off”
  3. At the “Reboot to Safe Mode” prompt, tap “OK” to confirm
