Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Go to “Display” and optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  5. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use – including Wi-Fi, Location (GPS) and Bluetooth – to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to turn the features Off
  3. Open “Settings” and access “Location” for GPS settings
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. For Hotspot options, go back to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the switches Off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Go to “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Accounts” and select an account type
  4. Tap the desired account and change the available settings to reduce sync

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Third-party apps can perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps”
  3. Make sure you view “All apps”
  4. Select the desired app and tap “Disable” / “Force Stop” to disable the app
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “System updates”
  3. Check if new updates are available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to complete the process
