Clear An Apps Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your applications crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try solving these issues by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted. This includes user profiles, login and credit card information, save files, settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Apps
- Ensure All apps is selected
- Tap the desired app
- Go to Storage and tap Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended and you plan on factory resetting it, alternatively you can try solving the problems by clearing the cache partition. This can have similar results as a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone.
- If necessary, turn the phone Off
- Press and hold Power and Volume Down at the same time
- At the Boot Mode Selection screen, release the buttons
- Press Volume down repeatedly to navigate the menu and highlight Recovery
- Press Volume Up to select the highlighted option
- At the No Command screen, press and release Power and Volume Up repeatedly until you gain access to Recovery
- Once in Recovery, navigate the menu by pressing Volume down repeatedly and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the option
- Once done, ensure Reboot system now is highlighted and press Power
NOTE: if clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If a third-party app causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app in Safe Mode, where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Press and hold Power while viewing the home screen
- In the power management pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- At the Reboot to Safe Mode prompt, tap OK NOTE: once the device reboots, you should see a Safe Mode watermark in the lower area of the home screen
- To uninstall the app, launch Settings then go to Apps
- Make sure All apps is selected
- Tap the desired app and press Uninstall > OK
- After the app has been uninstalled, exit Safe Mode by rebooting your device as you would normally do
