Clear an Apps Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! By clearing an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including user profiles, settings, login information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Access Apps > All apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Storage > Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK (check WARNING above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, doesnt work as intended and youre considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone.
- Turn the phone off if necessary
- Press and hold power and Volume down simultaneously
- At the Boot Mode Selection screen, release the buttons
- Navigate the menu by pressing volume down repeatedly
- Highlight Recovery and press Volume UP
- At the No Command screen, press and release Power and Volume Up repeatedly
- Once in Recovery, press Volume down to navigate the menu and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the option
- Once done, make sure Reboot system now is highlighted and press Power
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps doesnt work as intended and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default. To reboot to Safe Mode:
- Press and hold Power while viewing the home screen
- In the power management pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- At the Reboot to Safe Mode prompt, tap OK
- Once done, a Safe Mode watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app first open Settings
- Then go to Apps and switch to All apps if necessary
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall
- Tap OK
- To exit Safe Mode simply reboot your phone normally
