Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Go to “Display”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You might be able to improve battery life by disabling connectivity features when not in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Go to “Location” for GPS options
  5. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  6. Return to “Settings”
  7. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  8. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot”
  9. Disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Expand the “Wireless & Networks” menu
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Access “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an account type and the desired account
  5. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Third-party apps can perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Apps”
  3. Switch to “All apps” if necessary
  4. Tap the desired app
  5. Tap “Force stop” or “Disable”
  6. To remove the app, tap “uninstall”

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “System updates”
  3. Check if new updates are available
  4. If applicable, follow the prompts to download and apply the update
