Enable Battery Optimization:
- Swipe up on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Tap Battery > Battery optimization
- Select an app to optimize it
- Additionally, you can tap Menu and enable Advanced optimization
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Launch Settings
- Go to Display > Advanced
- Tap Sleep and select a lower timeout value
Disable Connectivity When Unused:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when they are not actively in use to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Bluetooth and GPS (Location) quick toggles to disable the features
- Tap and hold the Wi-Fi option and tap the toggle to disable the feature
- Open Settings for more options and access Network & Internet
- Tap Hotspot & Tethering and select Wi-Fi Hotspot
- Tap the toggle to disable the option
Uninstall Third-Party Apps:
NOTE: Third-party apps can perform regular background processes and this can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. To remove third-party apps:
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps & Notifications
- Switch to See all apps if necessary
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall > OK
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can potentially improve battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date.
- On the home screen, swipe the home screen up from the bottom
- Tap Settings
- Access System
- Tap System update > Check for update
- If new updates are available, follow the prompts to download and install them
