I need to port my Sprint phone number to my new Boost phone.

Boost can't get Sprint CDMA phone numbers, but can port Nextel phone numbers. Sprint will attach my CDMA number to a Nextel IMEI # and SIM #, but I need to give them some numbers. Then Boost can get the number from Nextel.

So all I need is a IMEI and a SIM from a Nextel IDEN phone. An old, inactive set of numbers from a phone sitting in your drawer is perfect. After Boost gets my number, the Nextel IMEI/SIM #s will be inactive again.

I'll PayPal $5 if it works. Please send a private message.

    Thank you in advance:

    John

Re: Need Nextel IMEI/SIM #s for Sprint/Nextel/Boost number port

I'm just wondering how (or if) this worked out for you. I'm also a Sprint (CDMA) customer, and I've just purchased and attempted to activate a Boost phone. I ran into the same problem when trying to port or 'migrate' my Sprint phone number, and I was finally told (after hours of calls to Boost and Sprint customer service), that I cannot port my number to Boost without first switching my account to the IDEN network. This apparently cannot be done without an actual Nextel IDEN phone and SIM card.

I have a friend who has an old phone and SIM card I can use. My concern is whether or not it's that simple on the Sprint side. Will they require a new service plan and/or contract renewal? If so, that completely ruins my plan of switching to Boost.

    Thanks!

Yes it worked. Sprint could just do this without all the crap, but they are choosing not to.

Anyway, when I finally got a emei and a sim, I called and they then wanted to change my plan. I blew up assuming that they wanted a new contract, etc. However, the supervisor took care of it. She did in fact have to give me a Nextel account, but did so with no complications. She knew why I wanted the Nextel switch. I then called Boost and they moved the number from Nextel.

It took 3 or 4 hours for the Boost phone to work after the switch, but it's fine now. Just be patient.

I got my emei and sim number from someone on my unversity's computer listserv. You don't need the actuall phone and sim, just the numbers.
