Change Display Settings:

  1. Tap “Settings” on the Start screen
  2. Go to “System”
  3. Tap “Display”
  4. From the display menu, you can manually adjust and reduce the brightness, or turn on “Automatically adjust display brightness”
  5. In addition, you can drag the slider under “Rotation lock” to adjust font size
  6. Once you’re done, tap “Apply”
  7. For additional “Glance Screen” options, access “Settings” > “Extras” > “Glance Screen”

Change Date & Time Settings:

  1. Go to the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Time & Language”
  3. Go to “Date & Time” (NOTE: In order to adjust time and date manually, both “set date and time automatically” as well as “24-hour clock” need to be turned off)
  4. Tap the “Date” fields and adjust the date
  5. Tap “Check”
  6. Tap the “Time” field and adjust “Hour”, “Minute”, “Meridian” etc.
  7. To save all changes, tap “Check”

Set an Alarm:

  1. Access the “App list” by swiping the Start screen left
  2. Tap “Alarms & Clock” > “+”
  3. Adjust the alarm’s time, snoozer timer, and set a ringtone
  4. Tap “Save”

NOTE: In the “Alarms & Clock” application, you can also tap the “Timer”, “Stopwatch” and “World Clock” tabs at the top.

Tips & Tricks to Improve Battery Life

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Go to “System”
  3. Tap “Battery saver”
  4. Tap the “Battery saver” switch and set it to “ON”
  5. For more options, tap “battery saver settings”

Turn Off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS:

NOTE: By turning off the phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run. To do this:

  1. Swipe the “Notification” bar down on the Start screen
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth” and “Wi-Fi” tiles to turn off these features
  3. Return to the “Start” screen and access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  4. Tap “Privacy” > “Location”
  5. Turn off GPS

Disable App Auto Update from Microsoft Store:

  1. On the Start screen, tap “Store”
  2. Tap “Menu”
  3. Access “Settings”
  4. Tap to turn off “Update apps automatically when I’m on Wi-Fi”
