I have a Nokia 6600. I want to download pics from the phone to my laptop. What is the easiest way to do this? What hardware do I need? What software do I need? I'm looking for something very simple and cheap, and some easy to follow instructions. I've looked at the Nokia website but there is nothing explaining how to do this or what I need for the installation. Thanks.

you can use either a usb cable or a usb bluetooth adapter for your laptop to communicate with your 6600 wirelessly via bluetooth. As far as software, you can use mobile phone tools to transfer things back and forth, do a search for it on google if you want it, good luck!

I guess the response is to do a google search when someone doesnt know the answer...lol. If you can find something on google that addresses this I'd sure like to see it. Anyway, if there is someone who can help I'd appreciate it.
So far I have downloaded PC Suite from the disc that came with the phone. I downloaded the driver off the disc that came with the cable. I have an icon on my desktop for PC Suite and an icon in the tray that looks like 2 little triangles. Device mgr says the cable is connected to Com4. I have Com4 selected in the box that opens when I click the icon in the tray. However nothing happens...it never connects. When I open PC Suite it's all greyed out. Any ideas?

The 6600 doesnt have usb, so you can only use IR or Bluetooth, If your PC has an IR port, select IR in the Manage Connections option in PC suite, make sure the two ports are near each oder, or you will have to buy a bluetooth usb for your pc, these are only about 40 here, so about the same there, and with this you can get high speed connection with your PC within 10-15 metres! or a simple way is to send yourself the files in a multi-media message to your email and they will arive as an attachement on the emal.

Ah rite, did you buy a cable off the net? Cause originally the 6600 didnt have USB connectivity it was all wireless.
This is the problem with getting cheap cables. You are meant to install the drivers BEFORE plugging the cable into the PC, and i presume no drivers came with the cable, if it didnt, we cant help unless you tell us what the cable is, then we can google for drivers.

I have no idea what brand cable it is as there isn't any markings. What I'm starting to think is even screw around with the cable at all. If I go the Bluetooth way I should be able to use the same Bluetooth adapter with any Bluetooth cell...right? Seems like the Bluetooth way is the cheapest and most flexible way for multiple phones...yes or no? If I go Bluetooth is there anything extra my laptop needs that related to bluetooth? Or will the BT adapter work in any PC?

Id go with bluetooth myself, it will work on any pc with a USB port, its just looks like a little memory stick, same design, and if you buy a good one in da shops, you will get the cd and all da rest to get it working, and it will work with any bluetooth enabled phone, so mostly all the newer ones! and the best thing is you can walk around with the phone, no wires attached wile using it through PC suite.

I ended up going the bluetooth way and had it up and running with PC Suite in 10 minutes. To any newbies this is definitely the way to go. Can use it for multiple cells, or a new cell in the future, and never have to buy or mess with cables ever again. Thanks for the responses.
