any suggestions on how to disable the GPS on the Nokia 6620 new laws in canada coming in are allowing more tracking options to law enforcement officers now they want to be able to track people even when their phone is turned off. Tried could not disable so i need the help of a tekkie

Its not an option, its just something the operators can do,here they track phones even ones that are turned off for people that are kidnapped and that. Why do ya want to not be traced anyway?!?

see it on connection settings, then GPS OFF,ON.

not worried about being tracked i just think it is a huge invasion of privacy

True but...
You gotta look at the advantages:
they can track you if you get kidnapped
they can track if criminals brake into your house
they can track where your phone is if it gets stolen
the only disadvantage is invasion of privacy....

As far as I know, its the law now (at least here in the US), that all mobile phones must have GPS on them. It's not an option, they must have them.
So who exactly do you think is invading your privacy?
