With my current phone (Nokia 6820) I am constantly getting little or no signal. In the building I work in and in the hospitals I have to visit per my job, I very rarely get any service.
Is this more due to my provider (Cingular)? Or does the phone have some impact on this?
Is there a Nokia phone out there that consistantly gets good reception? I don't care about a camera, or bluetooth, or any of that. I just need a phone that is going to get good reception as often as possible.
While I prefer Nokia, it's not a given, so if you have a suggestion for another phone I'd be willing to take it into consideration.

I think it could definitely be your phone; I just got Cingular about a month ago and got the Motorola V551. I thought it was going to be a good phone for reception from what I read about it. I would have to step outside of my house to get a halfway clear sound, like you I dont care what the phone can do as long as it is clear, gets great reception and loud enough to hear in a noisy environment. It lost on the reception when working in the plant surrounded by metal and electrical switchgear.
I traded it for a Razor because the clerk said it was a better phone for reception than the V551. He was right it did work around the switchgear and about anywhere in the plant but still could have been better at my home. The main reason why I traded it off was because it just wasnt loud enough.
So I went back and got a Nokia 6102 to give it a shot. Where I would loose the signal with the Motorolas the Nokia was a clear as a bell! At home its just like talking on a landline. It will be a couple off days before I can test it at the plant but so far this phone blows the Motorolas away!

Phone. I used to own a motorola T120 I believe the model was. In the basement of my house where I spend all my time I had no signal. I recently bought the nokia 6102 and actually can receive, and make phone calls. I don't have perfect reception but it is good enough to make a phone call and actually have a conversation.

I got to test the 6102 around all the metal and switchgear at the plant. I made a walk though while chatting with my wife, it sounded clear and never acted like it was about to drop. It beat both Motorolas hands down. It would be nice if the ring were louder. I think this phone is definitely a keeper.
Good luck with your search!
