Buying from another country

Hey guys, i'm new to the forum and don't know too much about cellphones. I'm going to Hong Kong in a couple of weeks and I'm planning to buy a Nokia phone there. My question is what specs does the phone need in order for it to work in Canada or the U.S.

it depends on your service provider. if you're with cingular/att make sure to get a phone with both 850 and 1900 mhz bands. if you're on tmobile, as long as the phone has a 1900 mhz band, it will work
