Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  3. Press “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable these features
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Tap “Location” for GPS settings, then tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. To disable Hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Then tap “Tethering & mobile hotspot” and disable the feature

Use 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Go to “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
  4. Tap “Display” and optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  5. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value such as “15 seconds”

Change Settings to Reduce Sync:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ settings to reduce the amount of data being synced, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Accounts” and select the desired account
  4. Change the available sync settings to reduce sync

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party applications, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps” and make sure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
  4. Select the desired application and tap “Force Stop” to disable the app
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus, it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Verify if a new update is available, and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
