Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Press Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when they are not in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable these features
- Open Settings
- Tap Location for GPS settings, then tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- To disable Hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Then tap Tethering & mobile hotspot and disable the feature
Use 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Go to Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Display and optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower timeout value such as 15 seconds
Change Settings to Reduce Sync:
NOTE: By changing your accounts settings to reduce the amount of data being synced, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select the desired account
- Change the available sync settings to reduce sync
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party applications, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps and make sure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
- Select the desired application and tap Force Stop to disable the app
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus, its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Verify if a new update is available, and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
