Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Go to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- In the Notification area, drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings for more options
- Go to Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, go to Sleep and select a lower value like 15 seconds
Change Account Settings to Reduce Sync:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the devices battery life when not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps from the device, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Access Settings
- Go to Apps and ensure you are viewing All apps
- Select the desired application
- Tap Force Stop or Disable
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable your phones connectivity features when not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, to improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to turn the features off
- Launch Settings and go to Location for GPS settings
- Then tap mode and select Battery saving
- To disable hotspot, return to Settings and tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & mobile hotspot and turn the feature Off
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have the possibility to recharge it, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Mobile networks > preferred network type
- Turn 2G ON
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can improve battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone > System updates
- Verify if new updates are available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the update (the update process will require to reboot the phone at least once)
