Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left in the quick toggle area
- For additional options open Settings
- Go to Display and optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout options, tap Sleep
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phones connectivity features Off when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, to improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Open Settings for more options
- Go to Location and tap Mode then select Battery saving
- For hotspot options, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Turn Tethering & mobile hotspot Off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Access Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes and this can potentially affect the phones battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps to improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps and switch to All apps or Downloaded
- Select the desired app
- Tap Force Stop / Disable to turn the app off
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select an account type
- Tap the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Open Settings
- Access About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update
