Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when not in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
- Tap Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to disable the features
- For more GPS options, go to Settings and tap Location
- Then tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- To disable Hotspot, go back to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and disable the feature
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can improve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Under Wireless & Networks tap More
- Go to Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the status bar down on the home scree
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Launch Settings for more options
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Display and optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Sleep and select a lower value
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. As such you can disable or remove unused third party apps to improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps and ensure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu
- Select the desired app
- To disable the app, tap Force stop / Disable
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall
Reduce Sync:
NOTE: By changing your accounts sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Access Accounts
- Select the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new updates is available for download
- If available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update (NOTE: this will require at least one reboot)
