I was considering purchasing a Blackberry 7290. I noticed under it's specs it said "internet browser". But what exactly does this mean? Does it mean that you can connect to the internet through your cell phone providers service (I.E. Cingulars Media Net thing). Or does this mean if you have a wireless internet you can get the "real" internet and browse through sites doing that?

P.S. I realize this is probably a dumb question, but I have little knowledge in stuff on cell phones. haha.

    thanks in advance

Any time you see a cell phone with internet, it means that it will connect to the internet via the cell phone service. If, you have a data plan to allow it. A blackberry plan usually allows this.
If a phone has wifi it will be listed separately. The only difference between the wireless carrier providing internet access and a wifi connection is typically speed. Some carriers will allow limited internet access without a data plan.

So basically if a cell phone has "wi-fi" it will still end up going through your cell phone providers media service, but it will be faster. Meaning they will charge you, right?

No, wifi is separate. All I meant was that the term internet on a cell phone does not in anyway imply wifi.
A wifi connection does not go through the cell provider. Wifi is just a way to connect to wired internet. Just like a cat 5 cable on your pc. Wifi on the few cell phones that have it connects to the hotspots and home networks.
At that point the browser will connect over the wifi connection.
One thing you should note is that very few cell phones do have wifi.

I have a 7290 through T Mobile. You can get on the internet like we are here. It doesn't support macromedia flash though. It is incredibly slow. Basically I think it is worthless to use to get on the net.
