I recently bought a supposedly unlocked Blackberry Tour. It was used and seemed to be in good condition upon delivery. The seller listed as an AT&T- Verizon phone. I'm not too savvy at this stuff but thought I was ok in getting the thing (I really only wanted to use it for travel so I wouldn't need my laptop, etc.) It fired up just fine but did nothing when the sim card was added. I called att who couldn't get to "work" either. I then took it to an att dealer who told me that it would not work with att because verizon operates with CDMA not GSM. Is there any way of getting around this issue; and if so, how do I do it?...Or, am I just SOL on this this thing and need to get a GSM specific phone?
Thanks,
Mike

It sounds like it still needs to be unlocked. You should be able to use it on AT&T (even though it also has a CDMA antenna) You can purchase an unlock code from a vendor on this site. The vendors are listed under the vendor section here: Show Groups - Cell Phone Forums
Send one that does unlocking a PM and I'm sure they'll be able to help you out.

Re: BlackBerry 8830 Black: A little help please!
Hi,
For the Verizon Blackberry 8830, although it can be unlocked, it will not be compatible with any carriers in the USA or Canada. It will only be compatible with GSM networks outside of North America.
Hope this helps!
