next time, you can use google to find info about your phone.

you're phone only allows polyphonic. no mp3 (real) tones.

With speakerphone and voice memo, I've heard of some people holding the phone near a speaker and trying to record a song. I don't know how much luck you'll have with that method, but some have reported success while others said it sounded crappy. Hidden Content

You can also try recording a voice memo on your phone, emailing it from the phone to the computer, and see if you can trick your phone into playing a file converted to the same format and emailed or uploaded back to the phone. Hidden Content

My phone isn't *supposed* to play mp3's but I figured out how to trick it into playing real tones, as you mentioned earlier, by changing the file to qcp. Actually, on my phone I don't have to convert the file, just change the extension!!! Hidden Content

Same deal with my phone, it supports true tones though, but for me to get good quality ones and songs that arent about 40 years old, I have to fake the extension of .mp3 to .mid.

Those real tones you got from vzw are probably the same file format your voice memos are in, not mp3. Try my suggestion, but I've heard other vzw users say there is some kind of block to prevent you from using free ringtones on vzw phones. I don't know how much truth there is to that...

since you are able to get tones from vzw with no problem, what exactly do you want from us here? Do you want to know if there is a way for you to make your own ringers that you can send over to your phone from your computer?

first, you need to cut and convert it to the specifications allowed by your phone.

most likely, if you are able to have mp3s on your phone, you can crop and edit the song using a music edit software program (ie adobe audition, sony soundforge, and plenty others out there. you just have to google for "music editor".)

once you do that and get the program you wish you to use...
    1. crop the exact part of the song you wish to have on your phone.
    2. in the process of saving it, be sure to make the bitrate no higher than 64Kbs and the frequency no higher than 22050Hz.
    3. search around through the verizon forum for ways to transfer.
