Anyone knows how to make midi files the simple way...? (not using a difficult program that requires you to have musical knowledge)

Wave to Midi
I was looking for a similar thing myself recently - I can give you a link to a free VST plug-in for Macs - however you need a fairly new version of Cubase for it to work. I'll check back here soon.
I found a few Wave to Midi programs suited to IBMs - they cost a bit. I found them by keying "wave to midi converter" in Google search. I think the Mac ended up using the terminology "pitch converter".
Hope this helps

cakewalk pro audio or cakewalk sonar is pretty kool for making midi fairly easily and quickly

Any of the cakewalk programs make it easy, the best way to learn is download a song and open it in cakewalk and then have a play.

It sounds a little awkward, but if you are celever, you can divide the voice from the music.

In download.com I tried one that converts in realtime wav to midi.
It was more like sound generator.

To convert midi to wav, I recently bought midi2wav. Although quite cheap, you need a fairly decent sound card in your PC or the resulting file will be bad quality. Like others here, I would now recommend Cakewalk Pro or Sonar to produce your own midi files, and which now even come bundled with the ability to convert directly to mp3.

I don't think so, since an MP3 file has so many layers of audio, to pick out the right instrumental sound, it just doens't sound possible.
Let me know if you find out how.

I agree it would be a difficult process. I use sonic foundary's soundforge to convert midi to wav and mp3 formats. You might try checking out their website to see if software exists.
