You might have seen the commercial pointing out one of the latest features to arrive with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S3 a couple of month ago. It shows two Galaxy S3 users sharing content between devices right in front of a long line of Apple fans waiting to get into the Apple Store located right behind them. The content sharing app can prove to be quite useful if you have content that you want to share with another user quickly.

The AllShare Play app allows the Galaxy S3 to connect with other compatible technology found on other smartphones, tablets, laptops and even televisions. The app works with technology known as Wi-Fi direct and digital living network alliance (DLNA).

If you need more information on DLNA, go to Consumer Home.

Note:
AllShare Play uses Wi-Fi to communication with other devices. Before launching AllShare Play, connect to the same Wi-Fi network as the device you want to stream with.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps ➔ AllShare Play.
  2. The first time you launch AllShare Play, read the user agreement and follow the prompts to continue.
  3. If you are not already signed in to your Samsung account, touch Sign in and follow the prompts.
  4. Choose a streaming option:
    • Web storages: Choose a web storage service, to stream content from storage to your phone. To set up web storage services, touch Menu ➔ Web storages.
    • Devices: Select content to share with other DLNA certified devices on the same Wi-Fi network. To set up connections to other devices, touch Menu ➔ Devices.
