Transferring Files via Kies for PC

  1. Download and install Samsung Kies on your PC.
  2. Then open Kies.
  3. Connect your Samsung Galaxy S4 Active to the PC via an USB cable.
  4. Your smartphone should connect automatically and it should appear in the left panel of Samsung Kies.
  5. In case you’re not able to connect, change your USB settings.
  6. Tap and drag the Notification Panel -> tap Connected as a camera and change it to Media device (MTP).
  7. In the Notification Panel it should say Connected as a media device.
  8. On your PC under the name of your device (in the left panel), click Photos or Videos.
  9. To switch to list view, click the Grid icon.
  10. Check the videos or photos you would like to transfer to your computer.
  11. When ready, tap the Save icon to save the selected files.
  12. Select the desired saving location and your files will be transferred to your PC.
  13. To view them, under Kies Library, click Photos or Videos.

Transferring Files via Kies Air

Kies Air is an app that allows you to manage and transfer the content and personal information stored on your Samsung Galaxy S4 Active by creating a wireless connection between a computer with a web browser and the smartphone.

  1. From the Home screen of your Galaxy S4 Active, tap Apps.
  2. Then tap Kies Air.
  3. Tap Start to initiate the connection.
  4. The app will display a URL that you can use to browse your Galaxy S4 Active on any device.
  5. So on your computer, open the browser and enter the URL in the browser’s address bar.
  6. Your smartphone will generate a random PIN -> in the browser window, enter the generated PIN and click OK.
  7. Your device and computer should now be connected.
  8. Take a look at the left panel of Kies Air and make sure your device is listed there.
  9. Now under the name of your smartphone, click Photos or Videos.
  10. Check the files that you would like to transfer and when ready click the Download button located at the upper left corner of the Kies Air window.
    The selected files will be transferred to the computer.
  11. To download an individual video or photo, click the photo/video that you would like to download and the click the Download button located just below the file.
  12. The file will download to your computer.

Dragging and Dropping Files Using Windows Explorer (Windows 7)

You can access your Galaxy S4 Active from your computer using MTP (Media device) or PTP (Camera mode) just like you would be accessing a USB mass storage device.

  1. Connect your Samsung Galaxy S4 Active to your computer using an USB cable.
  2. A window should automatically open on your PC. If no window shows up, click Start -> click Run and type Explorer to open Windows Explorer.
  3. Click Open device to view files and go to the location where your desired files are located -> click and drag the videos or pictures to the desired location on your computer.
