Backing Up App Data on a Google Account:
- Tap the "Apps" icon while on the home screen
- Go to "Settings"
- Tap "Backup and reset"
- Mark the check box next to "Back up my data"
- Tap "Backup account" and select the account that you wish to use
Backing Up App Data on a Samsung Account:
- From the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Go to "Settings" > "Accounts"
- Tap "Add account" and select "Samsung account"
- Sign in with your Samsung account
- Tap "Settings" while on the "Apps" screen
- Select "Cloud" > "Backup"
- Mark the items that you wish to back up
- Tap "Back up now" > "Back up"
Backing Up Contacts on a Google or Samsung Account:
- Tap "Contacts" while on the home screen
- From the "Contacts" screen, tap "Menu"
- Select "Merge accounts"
- Choose to merge with "Google" or "Samsung"
- Sign in with your account if necessary
Backing Up Contacts on the SD Card:
- While viewing the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Launch the "Contacts" application
- Make sure you're on the "Contacts" screen
- Tap "Menu" > "Settings" > "contacts"
- Select "Import / Export" > "Export to SD card"
- Record the backup file's name for future reference (to find it easier when restoring)
- Tap "OK"
Backing Up Media Files on the SD Card:
- Open the Apps drawer
- Tap "My Files"
- Go to "All files" and select "Device storage". NOTE: to back up all the files, press "Menu" > "Select all" and then skip to step 6
- Navigate to where the media files are located on your phone. (NOTE: pictures captured with the camera app are in the "DCIM" folder, downloaded content is found in the "Downloads" folder etc.)
- Mark the check boxes associated with the files / folders that you wish to back up
- Tap the "Menu" icon and select "Copy". (NOTE: you can tap "Move" instead, in order to avoid creating duplicates)
- Select "SD memory card"
- Navigate to the location where you wish to back up the files
- Tap "Paste here" (or "Move here")
Backing Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:
- Establish a connection between your Galaxy K Zoom and computer via USB
- Swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the "Media device" check box
- On the computer, an AutoPlay window should appear. Click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
- Navigate to where the desired files are stored on your phone's memory
- Copy the files, and navigate to the desired backup location on your computer's hard drive
- Paste the files in the desired backup location
- After the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your handset from the PC
Backing Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
NOTE: you need to follow the first 2 steps only if you're missing Samsung Kies from your Mac. Otherwise, skip them.
- Launch the Internet browser on your Mac computer and visit Kies
- From the page, click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen prompts to download and install Kies on your Mac
- Connect the K Zoom to your Mac via USB
- Swipe the "Status" bar down on the smartphone, and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device"
- Open Kies on the Mac
- Click the "Back up / Restore" tab, and click the "Backup" tab
- Mark the check boxes associated with "Photo", "Music", and any other file type that you wish to back up. Alternatively, you can tap "Select all items"
- Click "Backup"
- Once the process is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone from the Mac
