Backing Up App Data on a Google Account:

  1. Tap the "Apps" icon while on the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Tap "Backup and reset"
  4. Mark the check box next to "Back up my data"
  5. Tap "Backup account" and select the account that you wish to use

Backing Up App Data on a Samsung Account:

  1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Go to "Settings" > "Accounts"
  3. Tap "Add account" and select "Samsung account"
  4. Sign in with your Samsung account
  5. Tap "Settings" while on the "Apps" screen
  6. Select "Cloud" > "Backup"
  7. Mark the items that you wish to back up
  8. Tap "Back up now" > "Back up"

Backing Up Contacts on a Google or Samsung Account:

  1. Tap "Contacts" while on the home screen
  2. From the "Contacts" screen, tap "Menu"
  3. Select "Merge accounts"
  4. Choose to merge with "Google" or "Samsung"
  5. Sign in with your account if necessary

Backing Up Contacts on the SD Card:

  1. While viewing the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Launch the "Contacts" application
  3. Make sure you're on the "Contacts" screen
  4. Tap "Menu" > "Settings" > "contacts"
  5. Select "Import / Export" > "Export to SD card"
  6. Record the backup file's name for future reference (to find it easier when restoring)
  7. Tap "OK"

Backing Up Media Files on the SD Card:

  1. Open the Apps drawer
  2. Tap "My Files"
  3. Go to "All files" and select "Device storage". NOTE: to back up all the files, press "Menu" > "Select all" and then skip to step 6
  4. Navigate to where the media files are located on your phone. (NOTE: pictures captured with the camera app are in the "DCIM" folder, downloaded content is found in the "Downloads" folder etc.)
  5. Mark the check boxes associated with the files / folders that you wish to back up
  6. Tap the "Menu" icon and select "Copy". (NOTE: you can tap "Move" instead, in order to avoid creating duplicates)
  7. Select "SD memory card"
  8. Navigate to the location where you wish to back up the files
  9. Tap "Paste here" (or "Move here")

Backing Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:

  1. Establish a connection between your Galaxy K Zoom and computer via USB
  2. Swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
  3. Mark the "Media device" check box
  4. On the computer, an AutoPlay window should appear. Click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
  5. Navigate to where the desired files are stored on your phone's memory
  6. Copy the files, and navigate to the desired backup location on your computer's hard drive
  7. Paste the files in the desired backup location
  8. After the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your handset from the PC

Backing Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:

NOTE: you need to follow the first 2 steps only if you're missing Samsung Kies from your Mac. Otherwise, skip them.

  1. Launch the Internet browser on your Mac computer and visit Kies
  2. From the page, click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen prompts to download and install Kies on your Mac
  3. Connect the K Zoom to your Mac via USB
  4. Swipe the "Status" bar down on the smartphone, and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device"
  5. Open Kies on the Mac
  6. Click the "Back up / Restore" tab, and click the "Backup" tab
  7. Mark the check boxes associated with "Photo", "Music", and any other file type that you wish to back up. Alternatively, you can tap "Select all items"
  8. Click "Backup"
  9. Once the process is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone from the Mac
