Transferring Contacts via iTunes:

iTunes allows you to sync the contacts stored on your iPhone with your Google account, thus making it very easy to transfer the contacts from the account to an Android smartphone. This approach requires you to have access to a PC with iTunes installed and an active Internet connection.

  1. Launch iTunes on the computer
  2. Use the proprietary USB cable to connect your iPhone to the computer
  3. Once it connects, the iPhone will appear in iTunes. Click it to view the summary page
  4. Go to the "info" tab
  5. Mark the "Sync Contacts With" check box, and choose "Google Contacts" from the drop-down menu
  6. Enter your Google login credentials. If you've already done this prior to this guide, you can click "Configure" and select an existing account
  7. Click "Apply" and iTunes will start syncing the contacts
  8. Once the data has been synced, sign in with the same Google account on the Galaxy S5 Sport, by going to "Settings" > "Accounts"
  9. Allow Google to sync the contacts with your Android smartphone

Using iCloud to Transfer Contacts:

iCloud is a backup service that can be used to transfer contacts. As long as you've used this service before, your iPhone contacts should already be backed up on your iCloud account. By accessing your account you can export these contacts in the form of a vCard file, as explained below:

  1. Use the Internet browser on your computer to visit https://www.icloud.com/
  2. Sign in with your iCloud account and click "Contacts"
  3. From the list of contacts, select the ones that you want to export
  4. Click the cog wheel icon and select "Export vCard"
  5. The vCard file will now be downloaded on your computer
  6. Once you have the file, import it to "Google Contacts", or connect the Galaxy S5 Sport to the computer via USB, and copy the file to the phone's "sdcard" directory. Then, launch the "Contacts" application, press "Menu" > "Import / Export" > "import from SD card"

Transferring Contacts via "My Contacts Backup":

My Contacts Backup is an application for iOS that gives the user the possibility of backing up his / her contacts, and transfer them to another phone via email, as a vCard file. This method doesn't require access to a computer, as the 3rd party app is the only prerequisite.

  1. Visit the App Store and install "My Contacts Backup" on the iPhone
  2. Launch the application
  3. Tap "Backup" and once the file has been created, tap "Email"
  4. Compose a new email with the file attached to it
  5. Send the email to your own Gmail address
  6. On the Galaxy S5 Sport, open the email and download the attached file
  7. Launch the "People" application and press "Import / Export"

Using "Send Anywhere" to Transfer Contacts:

Last but not least, "Send Anywhere" is an iOS and Android app that can be used for cross-platform contact transfer via a P2P connection. A computer is not required to perform this method of transfer.

  1. From the Google Play Store, install "Send Anywhere" on the Galaxy S5 Sport
  2. Visit the App Store and install the application on your iPhone as well
  3. Launch the app on both devices
  4. On the iPhone, tap "Send" > "Contacts"
  5. Choose the contacts that you wish to transfer and tap "Send"
