Inserting the SD Card:
- Turn off your smartphone
- Remove the back cover by prying up on the notch
- Gently insert the SD card in its slot with the gold contacts facing down. Once installed properly, the card should click into place
- Replace the back cover and reboot your smartphone
Checking the Amount of Space on the SD Card:
- From the home screen, press "Menu"
- Tap "Settings"
- Access the "More" tab and tap "Storage"
- The "Available space" value is located under "SD card"
Formatting the SD Card:
WARNING! By formatting the SD card you will delete all data stored on it. Create backups if necessary
- From the home screen, press "Menu"
- Tap "Settings" > "more"
- Tap "Storage" and tap "Format SD Card" under "SD Card"
- To confirm, tap "Format SD card" again
Opening or Deleting Files Stored on the SD Card
Using Your Smartphone:
- From the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Open "My Files" and tap "All files"
- Touch "SD memory card" and select the folders whose contents you wish to view or delete
- Tap a file to open it
- To delete a file / folder, mark the check box next to it and tap the "Trash can" icon
- Tap "OK"
Using a Windows PC:
- Connect your SGS4 Value Edition to your computer via USB
- Swipe the "Status" bar down
- Tap "USB connected" > "Connect USB storage"
- On the computer, click "Open folder to view files" > "OK"
- Locate the desired files stored on the SD card
- Open or delete the files as you desire
- After the process is done, safely disconnect your device by clicking the "removable mass storage device" icon located in the system tray
Using a Mac Computer:
NOTE: Skip the first 2 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac
- On your Mac's Internet browser, visit Kies
- Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen prompts to install Kies on the Mac
- Establish a USB connection between your smartphone and Mac
- On the smartphone, swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the "Media device" check box
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- From Kies, click the "Folder" icon associated with "External memory"
- After deleting or viewing the desired files / folders, safely disconnect your smartphone from the Mac by ejecting its drive from the desktop
Transferring Files On / From the SD Card
Transferring Files Between a Windows PC and the SD Card:
- Connect your SGS4 VE to your computer via USB
- Swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "USB Connected" > "Connect USB storage"
- On the computer, click "Open folder to view files" > "OK"
- Locate the desired files on the SD and copy them to your computer's HDD (or vice versa)
- Once the transfer is complete, tap "Disconnect storage from PC"
Transferring Files from a Mac to the SD Card:
- Establish a connection between the S4 VE and Mac via USB
- From the notification area, tap "Connected as a media device"
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- Click the "Folder" icon next to "External memory"
- To transfer files from the Mac to the SD card, drag and drop them in Kies
- After the files have been added, safely disconnect your smartphone
Transferring Files From the Internal Storage to the SD card:
- Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
- Tap "My Files" > "All files"
- Tap "Device storage"
- Navigate to the files you wish to move from the internal storage to the SD card
- Mark the check boxes associated with the desired files
- Tap the "Menu" icon and tap "Move". (NOTE: tap "Copy" if you wish to create duplicates)
- Tap "SD memory card" and navigate to where the files should be transferred
- Tap "Move here" or "Paste here"
Transferring Files from the SD Card to the Internal Storage:
- Follow the first 2 steps from the guide above
- Tap "SD memory card"
- Locate the desired files and mark the check boxes next to them
- Tap the "Menu" icon and tap "Copy" or "Move"
- Tap "Device storage" and go to the location where the files should be transferred
- Tap "move here" or "Paste here"
