WARNING! Master resetting your smartphone will delete all the data stored on your phone's internal memory, and it will return all the settings back to factory values. You will lose all applications, custom ringtones, photos, downloaded content, contacts etc. stored on the internal memory, but data stored on the SD and SIM cards will not be affected.

Master Resetting via "Settings":

  1. While viewing the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Go to "Settings" and swipe to "User and Backup"
  3. Tap "Backup and reset"
  4. Optionally, mark the "Automatic restore" and "Back up my data" check boxes
  5. Tap "Factory data reset" > "Reset device"
  6. In case your smartphone is protected by a lock screen, enter the PIN / password etc. and tap "Continue"
  7. Tap "Delete all" to confirm the factory reset

Master Reset via Hardware Keys (Recovery Menu):

NOTE: Use this method of master reset assuming that you are unable to apply the reset via the settings menu as explained above.

  1. Back up the data stored on your device, if necessary
  2. Turn off the smartphone
  3. Press and hold the "Volume Up", "Power" and "home" buttons simultaneously
  4. As soon as the phone vibrates once, release the "Power" key but continue pressing the "Home" and "Volume Up" buttons
  5. When the "Android System Recovery" screen appears, release the "Home" and "Volume Up" buttons too
  6. While on the recovery menu, use the "Volume down" button to navigate to and highlight "wipe data / factory reset"
  7. Press "Power" to select the highlighted option
  8. Highlight "Yes -- delete all user data" using the "Volume Down" button
  9. Press "Power" to confirm the selected option
  10. Once the master reset has been successfully applied, "Reboot system now" will be highlighted
  11. Press "Power" to reboot your device in normal mode

Update the Android OS:

NOTE: After you master reset your smartphone, all previous software updates will be lost. That being said, you should check for software updates immediately after resetting your smartphone. To do so:

  1. Make sure that your Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime is connected to a Wi-Fi network
  2. From the home screen, press "Apps"
  3. Go to "Settings"
  4. Under the "More" tab, tap "About device"
  5. Tap "Software updates"
  6. If software updates are available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and apply them
