Wiping App Cache or Data:

NOTE: In case one (or more) of your applications isn't working as it should you can try fixing this behavior by clearing the app's cache and / or data.

WARNING! Clearing an app's data will remove all the personal information stored within it, including saved games, high scores, profiles, credit card information etc. However clearing the app's cache can solve the issues without losing the aforementioned data.

  1. Tap "Apps" from the home screen
  2. Access "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "Device"
  4. Tap "Applications" and select "Application manager"
  5. Swipe to "Downloaded", "Running" or "All"
  6. Find your app and tap it
  7. Tap "Clear cache". If it doesn't help, tap "Clear data" and press "OK" to confirm

Wiping the Phone's Cache Partition:

NOTE: Assuming your phone freezes, crashes or doesn't work as intended and you're considering factory resetting it, you may want to try fixing these problems by wiping the cache partition. Unlike a factory reset, clearing the cache can solve various issues without you losing any personal data stored on the device. To clear the Samsung Galaxy S6 cache:

  1. Turn off your smartphone
  2. Press and hold the "Volume Up", "Power" and "Home" buttons at the same time
  3. When the "power on" logo appears, release all hardware buttons and wait for the "Android" icon to pop-up
  4. In roughly 30 seconds your phone should enter Android System Recovery
  5. From the Recovery screen, press "Volume down" to navigate to and highlight "Wipe cache partition"
  6. Press "Power" to select the highlighted option
  7. Once the cache partition is cleared, "Reboot system now" should be highlighted
  8. Press "Power" to restart your phone

Entering Safe Mode to Uninstall an App:

NOTE: If one of your third party apps causes issues on your phone and prevents you from uninstalling it, you can always remove it by first accessing Safe Mode. In this mode all third party apps are disabled, so whatever service was preventing them from being removed will no longer be a problem.

  1. Turn off the smartphone
  2. Press and hold the "Power" button
  3. At the "Galaxy S6" screen, release the "Power" button and immediately press and hold "Volume down" instead
  4. Keep pressing "Volume down" until the smartphone finishes restarting
  5. You should see a "Safe mode" message in the lower-left corner of the home screen
  6. To remove an app in safe mode, first access the "Settings" menu
  7. Swipe to "Device" and tap "Applications"
  8. Tap "Application manager"
  9. Swipe to "Downloaded" and select the desired app
  10. Tap "Uninstall" twice to confirm
