Restore Media Files
From an SD Card:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open My Files
- Tap All files > SD card
- Tap Menu > Select and tick the check box associated with the files you wish to restore
- Tap Menu > Move
- Go to Device storage and navigate to the desired location
- Tap Move here. Alternatively, tap Create folder or the folder name to select a different location
From a Windows Computer:
- Establish a USB connection between the A3 and PC
- On the smartphone, swipe the Status bar down and turn on Media device (MTP) if necessary
- Open an Explorer window on the computer
- Locate the media file backups on your PC
- Copy the files and transfer them on your phone storage (preferably in the Media directory or where they originate from)
- After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage from the system tray and safely disconnect it from the USB cord
From a Mac Computer:
- Connect the Galaxy A3 to your Mac via USB
- Swipe the Status bar down and make sure Media device (MTP) is enabled
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- Access the Back up / restore tab
- Click Restore and check the boxes next tot Music, Photos or other media file types you wish to restore
- Click Restore
- Follow any additional on-screen steps to complete the process
- Once done, drag the phones virtual drive from the desktop into the Trash can to eject it
Restore App Data and Contacts
Restore Application Data:
- Sign in with the Samsung or Google account used for the backup
- Access Settings
- Tap Accounts under User and Backup
- Tap Google or Samsung
- Tap your email address or user name at the top
- Press Sync all
- Go back to User and Backup, then tap Backup and reset
- Under Backup and restore, check / uncheck Back up my data and Automatic restore
Restore Contacts from a Samsung or Google Account:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to User and Backup and tap Accounts
- Tap Samsung or Google, depending on the type of account containing the backup
- Tap your email address and if necessary, enable Sync contacts
- Tap Sync now
Restore Contacts from an SD Card:
- Ensure the SD card containing the contact backup is installed on the phone
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Applications and tap Contacts
- Tap Menu > Import / Export
- Tap Import from SD card and follow any additional on-screen steps
