Turn On Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Access “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “System” and tap “Battery”
  4. Enable “Power saving mode”
  5. You can tap “Start power saving” and select a battery percentage for the Saving Mode to start automatically

Disable Connectivity and Use 2G:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when not in use (such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS) you can improve battery life in the long run. In case of emergency, you can also conserve battery life by switching to 2G.

  1. Access the “Settings” menu
  2. Go to “Connections”
  3. Tap to disable the desired connectivity options
  4. Tap “Tethering & mobile hotspot” and set it to “OFF”
  5. To use 2G networks, tap “More connection settings” under “Connections”
  6. Next, tap “Mobile networks” > “Network mode”
  7. Select “GSM only”

Lower the Screen Timeout Duration and Brightness:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  3. Disable “Automatic brightness” if necessary
  4. Drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease the display’s brightness level
  5. Go back to “Display” and tap “Screen timeout”
  6. Select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

Reduce Sync:

NOTE: By setting your accounts to sync less data you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an account type and tap the desired account
  5. Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to turn off
  6. Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes, thus they can affect battery life even when not in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might be able to improve battery life.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Applications”
  4. Tap “Application manager”
  5. Access the “Downloaded” tab
  6. Select the desired application
  7. Tap “Disable” / “Force stop” to turn off the app
  8. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”

Turn Off Background Data:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Swipe to “Connections”
  3. Tap “Data usage” > “More”
  4. Tap “Restrict background data” > “OK”

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Certain software updates can include improvements to battery life, thus it’s recommended to keep your phone’s firmware up to date. To check for new updates:

  1. Access “Settings”
  2. Scroll down to “System”
  3. Tap “About device”
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to download and install the update(s) (if available)
