WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all data stored on the device’s internal memory will be deleted, including contacts, media files and ringtones, applications, downloaded content etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values. However, data located on the SD and SIM cards will not be removed.

NOTE: Before factory resetting the device, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can back up and restore data on the Samsung Galaxy Amp 2.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup and reset”
  4. Optionally, turn “Back up my data” and “Restore” on or off
  5. Tap “Factory data reset” > “Reset device”
  6. In case your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter your password / PIN / pattern and tap “Continue”
  7. Tap “Delete all” to confirm

Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: In case your phone freezes, crashes, or is otherwise unresponsive and doesn’t allow you to reset it via Settings, you can try resetting it from the Android System Recovery menu, which can be accessed after performing a combination of button presses.

  1. First, make sure the phone is turned off
  2. Next, press and hold “Power”, “Home”, and “Volume Up” at the same time
  3. When the “Samsung” logo appears, release “Power”
  4. At the “Android” logo, release “Home” and “Volume Up” too
  5. Wait for access to the Recovery menu (this may take up to 1 minute)
  6. Once in Recovery, navigate the menu by pressing “Volume down” repeatedly
  7. Highlight “Wipe data / factory reset”
  8. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  9. Press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes – delete all user data”
  10. Press “Power” to confirm
  11. Once the reset is complete, you will be prompted to “Reboot system now”
  12. Press “Power” one last time to confirm and reboot your phone

Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: After you have factory reset your phone, it’s recommended to check if new software updates are available for download. To do this:

  1. Open the apps drawer on the home screen
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to and tap “About device”
  4. Verify if the OS is up to date, and if necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install any available updates
