Transfer Audio Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Samsung Galaxy J Max to your computer via USB
  2. At the prompt, turn on “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)”, otherwise enable the option from the “Notification” area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer and navigate to the desired audio files on the computer storage
  4. Copy the desired files from the computer and transfer them on the phone, preferably in the “Media” directory in the “Ringtones” and “Notifications” folders
  5. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

Transfer Audio Files from a Mac Computer:

NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip the first 3 steps

  1. Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
  2. Visit Kies Support
  3. Click “Kies 3 for Mac” to download and install Kies
  4. Once done, connect the Samsung Galaxy J Max to your Mac via USB
  5. At the prompt, enable “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)”, or turn the option On from the “notification” area
  6. Open Kies on the Mac and click the “Folder” icon associated with “Internal memory” or “External memory”
  7. Open the File Finder on the Mac
  8. Locate the desired audio files and drag > drop them inside Kies
  9. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone’s virtual drive by dragging and dropping it from the desktop into the “trash can”
  10. You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord

Add Audio Files to the Ringtones List:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Tap “Sounds and notifications” under “Device”
  4. Under “Sound”, tap “Ringtones and sounds”
  5. Tap “Ringtone” > “Add ringtone”
  6. Choose to complete the action using “Sound picker”
  7. Select “Always” or “Just once”
  8. Choose the audio file you want to use and tap “Done”

Change the General Ringtone:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “Sounds and notifications” under “Device”
  3. Under “Sound”, tap “Ringtones and sounds”
  4. Tap “Ringtone”
  5. Select the desired ringtone and press “Back” to confirm

Change the Ringtone of a Specific Contact:

  1. Open “Contacts”
  2. Select the contact whose ringtone you want to change
  3. Tap “Edit” > “Ringtone”
  4. Select the desired ringtone and tap “OK”
  5. Tap “Save”

Change the Notification Sound:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “Sounds and notifications”
  3. Under “Sound”, tap “Ringtones and sounds”
  4. Select a notification sound to use
  5. Tap “Back” to apply the changes
