Back Up & Restore App Data:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to and tap Cloud and accounts
- Tap Backup & restore
- Tick the Back up my data check box to back up account and app data, Wi-Fi passwords and other settings to your backup account
- Tick Automatic restore to restore app data and setting when reinstalling apps
Back Up & Restore Contacts on a Samsung or Google Account:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Tap Cloud and accounts
- Access Accounts
- Tap the account you want to use for contact syncing
- Tap Menu > Sync now
NOTE: Contacts backed up in this manner can be automatically restored when signing in with the backup account.
Back Up Contacts to the SD Card:
- Launch Contacts
- Tap menu > Settings
- If needed, tap Contacts to display > All contacts
- Tap Import / Export contacts
- Select Export to SD card
- Review the backup file name for future use and tap OK to confirm
Restore Contacts from SD Card:
- Launch Contacts
- Tap Menu > Settings
- If necessary, switch to All contacts
- Tap Import / Export contacts
- Tap Import from SD Card
- Select the backup file to restore and follow any on-screen prompts to complete the process
Back Up Media Files On The Phone:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch My Files
- Tap My Device > Menu
- Tap Share and select the media files you want to back up
- Tap Share to confirm and select the desired sharing location
Restore Media Files from the SD Card:
- Open My Files and access SD Card
- Tap Menu > Edit
- Tick the check boxes associated with the media files you want to restore
- Tap Menu > move > My device
- Tap move here
- Tap the folder name or tap Create folder
- Lastly, press Move here to restore media
Back Up & Restore Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Samsung device to your computer via USB
- Enable File transfer / Media device when prompted or from the notification area
- On the computer, launch the File Explorer
- Navigate to the media files on the phone storage and copy them
- Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
NOTE: To restore media files form the PC, follow the first 3 steps above, locate the media file backups on the PC, copy and transfer the files back on the phone storage.
