Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your applications crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing this behavior by clearing the apps cache and/or data.
WARNING! Clearing an apps data will result in the deletion of all your personal data stored within the app, including credit card and login information, high scores, settings, user profiles etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap Applications
- Select the desired application and access Storage
- Tap Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK (check WARNING above)
Wipe the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone doesnt work as intended and youre considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing the problems by clearing the phones cache partition. This can yield results similar to a factory reset without losing any personal data in the process.
- First turn the phone OFF
- Next, press and hold Home and Volume Up at the same time, then press and hold Power
- At the device logo, release Power
- At the Android logo, release all buttons
- From the Recovery menu, press Volume down repeatedly until you highlight wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Press Volume down to highlight Yes and press Power
- After the cache partition is wiped, highlight Reboot system now if necessary
- Press Power one last time to reboot your device
NOTE: If clearing the phones cache partition didnt help, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: In case you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app from Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled.
- Turn the phone OFF if necessary
- Press and hold Power past the device name screen
- At the Samsung logo, release Power and immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- Keep the volume button pressed until the phone finishes rebooting. A Safe Mode label should be shown in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, first go to Settings
- Next tap Applications
- Select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall twice to confirm
- To exit Safe Mode, simply reboot your phone as you would do normally
