    Back Up and Restore App Data:

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Personal”
    3. Tap “Backup & Reset”
    4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your Google account
    5. Enable “Automatic restore” to allow app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to be restored automatically when signing in with the Google account

    Back Up Contacts on a Google or Samsung Account:

    1. Open “Contacts”
    2. Tap “More” > “Settings”
    3. In case there are contacts on your phone that haven’t yet been synced with your account, you can tap “Move device contacts to”
    4. Next, tap “Settings” > “Accounts”
    5. Select the desired account with which to sync contacts
    6. Tap “More” > “Sync Now”

    NOTE: To restore contacts backed up using this method, sign in with your Samsung or Google backup account and allow it to sync data (including contacts) with your device.

    Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

    1. Launch the Internet browser on the computer
    2. Visit Samsung Smart Switch?
    3. Click “Samsung Smart Switch for PC” to download and install the app on the computer
    4. Connect the Samsung device to your computer via USB
    5. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
    6. Open the File Explorer on the computer
    7. Locate the media files on the phone and copy them
    8. Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the PC storage
    9. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

    Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

    1. If necessary follow the first 3 steps above
    2. Connect the Samsung device to your PC and enable “Media device” / “File transfer” at the prompt or from the “Notification” shade
    3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
    4. Locate the media file backups on the PC storage
    5. Copy and transfer the files back on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folder(s) from which they originate

    Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:

    NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps below if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac.

    1. Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
    2. Visit Samsung Kies
    3. Click “Download for Mac” and install the app on the computer
    4. Connect the Samsung smartphone to your Mac via USB
    5. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
    6. Open Kies on the Mac
    7. In Kies, access the “Back up / restore” tab and tap “Backup”
    8. Tick the check boxes associated with “Photos”, “Music” and other media file types you want to back up
    9. Click “Backup” to begin the process
    10. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage by dragging and dropping its virtual drive from the desktop and into the “Trash can”
    11. You can safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord

    Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:

    1. Follow the first 6 steps above
    2. In Kies, click the “Back Up / Restore” tab and access “Restore”
    3. Tick the boxes associated with “Music”, “Photos” and other media file types you want to restore
    4. Click “Restore” and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process
    5. Once the process is complete, eject the phone storage by dragging the device’s virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it into the “Trash can”
    6. You can safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
