Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: In case one of your apps doesnt work as intended, freezes, crashes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache and/or data.
WARNING! When you clear the apps data, all your personal app data stored within the app will be deleted. This includes credit card and login information, settings, save files, user profiles, high scores etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Storage
- To clear the apps cache, tap Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data (check the WARNING above)
Clear the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre considering factory resetting it, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can yield results similar to a factory reset without losing any personal data stored on the device.
- First turn the phone Off
- Next, press and hold Home and Volume Up at the same time, then press and hold Power as well
- At the Android logo, release all buttons and wait for up to 60 seconds to gain access to Android Recovery
- Once in the Recovery menu, navigate to and highlight wipe data / factory reset by pressing volume down
- Confirm the highlighted option by pressing Power
- Highlight Yes using the volume rocker and press Power again
- After the cache partition is cleared, highlight Reboot system now and press Power
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt solve the issues, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall and App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, all third party app are disabled.
- If necessary, turn the phone Off
- Press and hold Power past the model name screen
- At the Samsung logo, release Power and immediately press and hold volume down instead
- Keep the volume button pressed until the phone finishes rebooting (NOTE: a Safe Mode label should be visible in the lower area of the home screen)
- To remove an application, first access Settings
- Go to Apps and select the desired application
- Tap Uninstall to remove the app
- Once done, exit safe mode by pressing and holding Power and tapping Restart
