Back Up App Data:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap Cloud and accounts
- Tap Backup & restore
- Enable Back up my data to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your Google backup account
- Enable Automatic restore to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored when reinstalling apps or signing in with the backup account
Back Up Contacts:
- Open the apps drawer and launch Settings
- Tap Cloud and accounts
- Access Accounts
- Select the account you want to use for contact syncing
- Tap Menu > Sync Now
Back Up Contacts to SD Card:
- Open Contacts
- Tap Menu > Settings
- If needed, tap Contacts to display and select All contacts
- Tap Import/Export contacts > Export to SD Card
- Press OK to confirm
Back Up Media Files On The Phone Storage:
- Launch My Files
- Tap Internal Storage > Menu
- Tap Share and select the contacts you want to back up
- Tap Share again
- Select the desired backup location to confirm
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Samsung phone to the computer via USB
- Enable File Transfer / Media device at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media files on the phone storage
- Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the PC
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect it from the USB port
Back Up Media File on a Mac:
NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip the first 3 steps below:
- Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
- Visit https://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/kies
- Click Download for Mac and install Kies on the computer
- Next, connect the Samsung device to the Mac via USB
- Enable Media device / File Transfer at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Launch Kies on the Mac and go to Back up / restore
- Access the Backup tab and tick the boxes associated with Music, Photos and other file types you want to back up
- Click Backup to begin the process
- Once done, drag the phones virtual drive from the desktop and drop it into the Trash can icon to eject it
- You can now safely disconnect the device from the USB port
