Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your applications doesn’t work as intended, freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably etc. you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache/data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal app data stored within the app will be deleted, including credit card and login information, save files, settings, high scores etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Tap “Apps” and select the desired application
  3. Tap “Storage” > “Clear cache” to clear the app’s cache
  4. If clearing the app’s cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” (check WARNING above)

Wipe the Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting it, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can lead to results similar to a factory reset without losing any personal data on the phone storage.

  1. First power off the phone
  2. Next press and hold “Home” and “Volume Up” at the same time, then press and hold “Power” too
  3. At the bugdroid logo, release all buttons and wait to gain access to Android Recovery
  4. Once in the Recovery menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “wipe data / factory reset”
  5. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  6. Press “Volume down” to highlight “Wipe cache partition” and press “Power
  7. Highlight “Yes” and press “Power” to confirm
  8. Once done, ensure “Reboot system now” is highlighted and press “Power” to confirm

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can check this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the phone instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: If you’ve installed a third-party app that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to uninstall the app from Safe Mode. In this mode, all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Turn the phone off
  2. Then press and hold “Power” past the model name screen
  3. At the Android logo, release “Power” and immediately press and hold “Volume down” instead
  4. Release the key once the phone finishes rebooting. Once done, a “Safe Mode” watermark should be shown in the lower area of the home screen
  5. To remove an app, first open “Settings” and go to “Apps
  6. Select the desired application and tap “Uninstall” two times
  7. To exit Safe Mode, press and hold “Power” and tap “Restart
