Back Up App Data:
- Open Settings
- Go to Cloud and accounts
- Tap Backup & Restore
- Enable Back up my data to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
- Enable Automatic Restore to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored automatically the next time you log in with the backup account or when reinstalling apps
Back Up Contacts:
- Launch Contacts
- Access Cloud and accounts
- Go to Accounts
- Select an account type and the account you want to use for syncing the contacts
- Make sure the Contacts check box is ticked
- When ready, tap Menu > Sync Now
Back Up Contacts to SD or Internal Storage:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Applications
- Tap Contacts
- Select to Import/Export contacts
- Tap Export and select Storage or SD Card
- Tap OK to confirm
Back Up Media Files to SD Storage:
- Launch My Files
- Go to Local storage
- Tap Device storage > More
- Tap Edit and select the media files you want to back up
- Tap More > Copy > SD card
- Select the desired folder or tap Create folder
- When ready tap Paste here
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
- On the phone, enable Media device / File Transfer at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media files on the phone
- Copy and transfer the files to the desired backup location on the PC storage
- Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
NOTE: If Samsung Kies is installed on the Mac, skip the first 3 steps below.
- Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
- Visit https://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/kies
- Click Download for Mac and install the app on the Mac
- Then, connect the phone to the Mac via USB
- On the phone, enable File Transfer / Media device at the prompt or from the Notification shade
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- In Kies, go to the Backup section
- Tick the boxes associated with Photos Music and other media file types you want to back up
- Click Backup to begin the sync
- Once done, drag the phones virtual drive from the desktop and drop it over the trash can to eject it
- Safely disconnect the device from the USB port
