Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps freezes, crashes, or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing the issues by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including login information, personalized settings, user profiles, save files etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app cache.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps and select the desired app
- Tap Storage > Clear cache
- Tap OK
- If clearing the app cache didnt help, tap Clear data (check the WARNING above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: if your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing the issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the device.
- Turn the phone Off
- Press and hold Power Volume Down and home at the same time
- At the Android screen, release the buttons and wait for access to Android Recovery
- Press Volume down to navigate the menu and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Highlight Yes and press Power to confirm
- Once done, ensure Reboot system now is highlighted and press Power
NOTE: if clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the device instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: if one of your third-party apps causes problems and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Turn the phone Off if needed
- Press and hold Power
- At the Samsung logo, release Power and immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- After the phone finishes rebooting, release the volume key. Note that a Safe Mode watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, open Settings
- Go to Apps and select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall two times to confirm
- Once done, reboot your phone normally to exit Safe Mode
