Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps freezes, crashes, or doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing the issues by clearing the app’s data or cache.

WARNING! By clearing the app’s data, all of your personal app data will be deleted, such as user profiles, save files, custom settings, login information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps”
  3. Select the desired app
  4. Tap “Storage” > “Clear cache”
  5. Tap “OK”
  6. If clearing the app cache didn’t solve the issues, tap “Clear data” (check the WARNING above)

Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your device freezes, crashes, or doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try solving these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can lead to results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the device.

  1. Turn off the phone if necessary
  2. Press and hold “Power” “Volume down” and the “Bixby”/”Home” buttons simultaneously
  3. At the Android screen, release the buttons and wait for access to Android Recovery
  4. Press “Volume down” to navigate the menu and highlight “Wipe cache partition”
  5. Press “Power” to select the highlight
  6. Once done, “Reboot system now” should be highlighted
  7. Press “Power” one last time to confirm and reboot the device

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t solve the issues, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove Apps:

NOTE: If one of your third-party app causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to remove the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Turn the phone Off if necessary
  2. Press and hold “Power”
  3. At the “Samsung” logo, release “Power” and immediately press and hold “Volume Down”
  4. Release the buttons after the phone finishes rebooting. Once done, you should see a “Safe Mode” watermark in the lower area of the home screen
  5. To remove an app, open “Settings”
  6. Access “Apps” and select the desired app
  7. Tap “Uninstall” two times to confirm
  8. Once done, exit Safe Mode by rebooting the phone normally
